MyProxy+Moonshot

posted Apr 15, 2011, 7:26 AM by Jim Basney
Daniel Kouril announced that federated authentication to MyProxy using Moonshot is possible using MyProxy's SASL support. Project Moonshot is developing "a single unifying technology for extending the benefits of federated identity to a broad range of non-web services, including cloud infrastructures, high performance computing and grid infrastructures." Unlike the GridShib-CA, which supports web browser-based federated authentication to MyProxy, Moonshot enables federated authentication directly on the myproxy-logon command-line, as well as directly in MyProxy-enabled applications, outside the web browser. A growing number of Moonshot-enabled applications are being prepared for the time when Moonshot will be supported by federated identity providers (such as InCommon Federation members).
