Identity leaders in research and higher education met May 25-27 for InCommon Advance CAMP: Identity Services Summit III. The meeting agenda was set in real-time following the "unconference" format. Jim Basney (CILogon project PI) presented a lightening talk on the challenges of service provider on-boarding, which is the process of connecting with identity providers to allow users to access a federated service and is particularly difficult for services like CILogon that do not have contractual relationships with identity providers. ACAMP break-out sessions discussed SP on-boarding, OAuth, InCommon Silver, SAML for non-browser applications (ECP), federated identity for research applications, and other topics. A highlight of the meeting was a demo and walk-through by Scott Koranda (LIGO) of a SAML ECP client, which showed that SAML is well within reach for non-browser apps.
