CILogon was developed under support by the National Science Foundation (grant numbers 0850557 and 1547268) and by the Department of Energy (award number DE-SC0008597). XSEDE provides basic operational support for CILogon. CILogon is further sustained by a non-profit subscription model administered by the National Center for Supercomputing Applications at the University of Illinois. Becoming a subscriber helps to support CILogon's long-term sustainability and provides additional collaboration management capabilities. CILogon subscribers receive contracted support for CILogon services under a detailed service level agreement. The current CILogon service tiers are:

  • Basic Authentication Services (OIDC, X.509) - No charge
  • Basic Multi-tenant Collaboration Management Services (COmanage , LDAP) - $1,200 per year
  • Full Service Production (dedicated service instances, add-on services, custom plugins, SAML proxy, SAML AA) - $20,000 per year
  • Custom Support - Contact us for a quote

CILogon subscription agreements are managed by the University of Illinois. We kindly ask that your purchasing office refrain from requesting modifications to these agreements unless specifically required by law or regulation, because negotiation of custom agreement language creates a significant overhead for CILogon staff and the University of Illinois contracts office. Also, please be sure to work with your purchasing office to obtain an official signature on the agreement, because typically only a small number of individuals at an organization have contract signing authority.

Please contact if you're ready to subscribe or if you have any questions.

Thanks to the support of funding agencies, partner projects, and subscribers, CILogon is able to maintain a commitment to open source software development and a focus on the needs of the academic research community.
