How to Select an Identity Provider

Before you can log on to the CILogon Service at, you must first select an identity provider. An identity provider (IdP) is an organization where you have an account and can log in to gain access to online services. This page guides you through the process of selecting an identity provider.

Option 1. Select your campus identity provider (preferred)

If you are a faculty, staff, or student member of a university or college, please select that university or college for your identity provider. Then you will be able to log on to the CILogon Service using your campus username and password. If your university or college is not listed as an option, you will need to select a different identity provider. You can also contact and follow the steps to add an identity provider.

If you were not able to select an identity provider in this step, please try the next option.

Option 2: Select a third-party identity provider

CILogon supports authentication from several external OAuth 2.0 identity providers including Google, GitHub, ORCID, and Microsoft. You can create a free account at any of these providers for use with CILogon.
